This project examined the feasibility of reducing waste material by 3D printing by converting existing PET waste into 3D filament and using agricultural waste (wheat straw) to replace traditional plastic infill.
Dr. Westphal has a Boundary Layer Data System (BLDS) that is used to take pressure measurements on the surface of the aircraft. Our team has created a design and manufacturing method for producing the corresponding pressure belt that attaches to Dr. Westphal’s system to obtain pressure data.
The goal of our senior project was to design a check valve with improved performance over the current Zurn 350XL design. Our project aimed to accomplish this through improved hydrodynamic characteristics along with exploring buckling spring design. Our project was sponsored by Zurn Wilkins, located in Paso Robles, CA.
