Sonoma EMS Process Improvement
Sonoma County’s EMS is serviced by a number of public ambulance providers and the company AMR. Ambulances have an average response time of 7-9 minutes depending where they are responding in Sonoma County. Different regions of the county constitute compliance areas, and each area has a set response time standard. Failure to meet these standards routinely costs AMR $30,000-$50,000 per month in compliance fines while delaying delivery of critical medical care to the patient. By outlining the EMS process and modeling it in a simulation program our team gained important insights in ways to improve response times.
